Client type:  Infrastructure CM services firm.

“We hit the jackpot when we hired Marge”      

This was the first line of the press release our client put on their website after hiring their new Northern Area Vice President.

This client had targeted a key Midwestern location for expansion. However they had never done a project there and had no reputation or access to candidates. Working with the leadership of this organization it was determined that what was needed was someone from the state’s DOT.  We put together a compelling job description and developed a list of potential candidates.

Even though we had no previous experience in this market we were able to quickly identify a candidate shortlist of ten potential prospects. We then spent a week driving through the state interviewing them. We submitted the best five candidates and the client actually wanted to hire three of them! They ultimately hired the best one and if you remember they “Hit the jackpot”

After evolving from a local homebuilder this firm had established itself as a niche player in the high end retail interiors market. Realizing that the expertise they had developed was perfect for the hospitality market they decided to begin pursuing interior projects for high end hotels.

We were contacted and after meeting them in their Phoenix offices were hired to conduct a national search for someone to head up this new division.

Due to the experience we had gained recruiting for our Vegas hospitality clients we were able to quickly locate a candidate with a national reputation for high quality renovation and new construction for the top hospitality organizations. Client type: Construction industry trade organization.

This organization needed to find a replacement for a technical director that was being promoted. They did not however want to “poach” someone from their membership.

After meeting with them we determined that the best source of candidates would be similar trade organizations. We were able to locate a number of local candidates for them to chose from and ultimately found the successful replacement.

Client type: Architectural firm

The founder and design principal of this firm desperately wanted to expand his practice. The firm contacted us and after discussing their needs it was determined that they did not want to enter into a retained search agreement. They did however want us to keep our eyes open for someone who fit their criteria.

As a result of the volume of work we had done in the design profession we were aware of a Canadian candidate who had taken a design principal position in the states and was not happy. We contacted them and were able to facilitate a number of meetings that ultimately led to a successful partnership that allowed the client to expand their practice.

The firm had been awarded a CM contract for a $500MM out of state job with a very demanding client. No one wanted to move to the project site.

We were retained to first find a Project Manager. As the project materialized it was determined that safety, project controls, scheduling and finance people were also required. We were able to find successful candidates for all of these roles. The project was ultimately very successful and won many local and national awards.

Client type:  International AEC firm

The engineering leader of this was firm was being promoted. Although there were several talented engineers on staff no one had the level of experience that was need to take them to “the next level” and the new markets they wanted to expand into. Additionally the firm suffered from a negative perception in the local marketplace due to bad leadership in the past.

We first worked with the firm’s leadership team to develop a compelling profile and job description. We then conducted the entire search on a confidential basis ensuring that we were able to speak with the best candidates before they knew who the client was. Once we had developed our short list we were able to convince the candidates to forget their preconceived notions and sit down for an interview. This approach enabled the client to interview the best candidates and share their vision for the future. They were able to hire one of the best engineers in Chicago who has subsequently become an integral part of their organization.

Client: Hospitality and Gaming Developer and Operator

When this firm began developing what has become the largest privately financed project in U.S. history they needed to move their top in-house design and construction executives into leadership roles overseeing their interest in the project.

This meant that the President of the design and construction group needed to be replaced along with the Directors of Construction, Design, Contracts and Diversity, as well as numerous Project Managers and support staff.

Even though we had no experience in this particular market we saw the potential this client represented and through conversations with their human resources and leadership team we were able to launch a nationwide recruiting campaign that netted all of the candidates that were needed in less than four months!

As a result they were able to successfully transfer the leadership to the new project confident that their day to day interests were being handled.

As a result of our success with the above client we were referred to another very famous developer who needed someone to manage their multibillion dollar mega project.

We had developed a very comprehensive database of the local marketplace and as a result were able to provide the client with a successful candidate in less than two months.


Client type:  Retail Developer

The Executive Vice President of Architecture had announced his retirement after 35 years with the company. The firm had hired a well known executive search firm to find his replacement but after six months and 13 candidates no replacement had been found.

We were working with the firm separately and had just completed an assignment for a Western Regional Director of Design. The Human Resources Manager had been sharing his frustration with us and asked if we were aware of anyone who could fill the bill.

At this time we had developed a good relationship with the firm and instinctively knew what they were looking for in a new Architectural leader. Well, we submitted one candidate and that was it! The firm had their new EVP of Architecture!
